Teamwork training for child welfare professionals set for Jan. 18 in Madison January 17, 2017 Teamwork training for child welfare professionals is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 18, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 1531 Highland Colony Parkway in Madison. The program will open at 9 a.m. with videotaped remarks from Gov. Phil Bryant and Dr. David Chandler, executive director of the Department of Child Protection Services. The focus of the training is to promote communication and cooperation among all the professionals who work to provide permanency for children in the care of the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services. “With Teamwork Our Kids Win” is the title of the training program sponsored by the Administrative Office of Courts. The training program, the second of three to be held across the state, will bring together staff of the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services, chancellors, Youth Court judges, Youth Court referees, Youth Court administrators, court clerks, prosecutors, guardians ad litem, Youth Services counselors, school attendance officers, University of Mississippi training specialists, parent attorneys and faith-based organizations. Supreme Court Justice Dawn Beam, co-chair of the Commission on Children’s Justice and ReNewMS, is scheduled to speak at 11:20 a.m. Jurist in Residence John Hudson and Rankin County Youth Court Judge Thomas Broome will speak at 12:30 p.m. Mississippi Judicial College Executive Director Randy Pierce and Rex Mohon, senior business systems analyst for the Administrative Office of Courts, are scheduled to speak at 1:15 p.m. The training program in Madison is the second of three “With Teamwork Our Kids Win” programs. Approximately 465 people attended a Jan. 11 program in Oxford. The final program will be held Jan. 25 at Michael Memorial Baptist Church in Gulfport. #### |
